Die Idee, handgemalte Bilder mit nautischen Szenen aus der alten und neuen Zeit
der Seefahrt auf alte Segel zu malen entstand 1993.

Der Grundgedanke ist dabei, die aussergewöhnliche Struktur des Segels
auszunützen, wie die vorgegebenen Legefalten, die Zick-Zack-Nähte, bei manchen
Bildern die Reffkauschen, Rostflecken oder aufgenähte Flicken im Bild zu integrieren.
Das gibt den Bildern die einzigartige, ungeahnte Lebendigkeit.

Die Herkunftsländer dieser Aussergewöhnlichen Bilder sind Tunesien und
Marokko. Das Ambiente dieser Länder ist der ideale Background dieser
fantastischen nautischen Bilder.

Der Künstler Pierre Larus, ein gebürtiger Franzose, lebt seit 15 Jahren in Tunesien
und Marokko. Das Bemalen von alten Segeln ist für ihn zu einer Passion geworden.
